Course Description
Writing is a skill, and best improved by practice. In this class, you'll learn simple but powerful methods to get the ideas out of your head and onto the page: how to analyze a topic, create a thesis statement, organize your writing, support your claims, add humor and style, and other tips and tricks to become a better writer. We will do some work on vocabulary and grammar building. But mostly we will practice writing. Short writing exercises will increase your skill, confidence, and speed as you face the ACT and SAT essay exams, as well as other writing projects. Bring a notebook and pen. *No class on 2/23/2014.
