Interesting update: I initially wrote this when Hao Hao was in kindergarten, and this article has been reprinted widely in the past few years. Just last month, Little Brother, who is now in third grade, asked me, "What does it mean when people pull their eyes back like this? Why do they do that? What should I do?" And so the conversation continues...
